The
CAH Swing Bed Management Training with Supplemental Review of the UMRHRC PI/QI Measures from the
Pilot Project will be held June 6-7 at KHA Headquarters in Louisville.The program is intended to assist small rural CAH hospitals
with training for their staff to improve the quality of their swing
bed program.
It will optimize the patient outcome, increase
utilization and revenue while preventing denials for their
swing bed services. Given the longer training program, more
time than in the past will be spent on discussing day-to-day
operations.

This week, KHA and the K-HIIN team are conducting a two-day TeamSTEPPS program at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester. Twenty-seven hospital employees from Clark Regional Medical Center and Bourbon Community Hospital are attending the program. TeamSTEPPS is a program of teamwork tools aimed at optimizing patient outcomes by improving communication and teamwork skills among health care professionals.

The UK Center of Excellence in Rural Health, the Kentucky Office of Rural
Health (KORH) and the UK CCTS Community Engagement and Research Program are
requesting applications for the 2017 Community Leadership Institute of
Kentucky (CLIK). CLIK is a four-week intensive leadership development
training program designed to enhance research and capacity-building
competencies in community leaders, senior staff, directors and
administrators.
In addition, each participant's organization will receive a $2,500 grant for
their participation in this competitive program and completion of their
proposed project over a 12-month period. The participant's organization
must have 501c3 status or a designated lead fiscal agency (health agency or
non-profit) to receive and manage the grant award.

On Wednesday, September 21, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced Louisville as the fourth city in America to take part in a comprehensive
law enforcement and prevention “360 Degree Strategy” to assist cities dealing with the heroin and prescription drug abuse epidemic. As part of this
strategy and in conjunction the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky, the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids and the Benevolent and
Protective Order of Elks you are cordially invited to attend a DEA 360 Strategy Drug Prevention “Train-the-Trainer” briefing held at one of two locations
on November 1 and 2.
The training, designed by the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, is intended to:

Answers to many of the questions submitted by participants during the Long-Term Care Hospital (LTCH) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) Provider Training offered in Baltimore, Maryland, in November have been posted and are available on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) website at https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Quality-Initiatives-Patient-Assessment-Instruments/LTCH-Quality-Reporting/LTCH-Quality-Reporting-Training.html, under ‘Downloads’.
Additionally, CMS will host a follow-up webinar on February 3.
